(Alex Longo est) Cascadeur

The man behind this stage name is a subtle pianist specialising in richly poetical melodies.

Winner in 2008 of the prestigious « CQFD » Prize awarded by French cultural magazine Les Inrockuptibles for « Artistes Ripe for Discovery », Cascadeur is the stage name for Alex Longo, the singular vocalist and songwriter behind three self-produced albums.

Though his face is masked, Cascadeur reveals himself through his music. From chord to chord one can hear the inspiration of Antony and the Johnsons, classic pop, Radiohead and Nina Simone – and also of Satie. The sound boxer fights with great subtlety and humour. The delirious sound quickly intoxicates the audience.

His work is currently receiving a lot of attention in France. Cascadeur is playing everywhere: at the MIDEM trade fair in Cannes, at the Bellevilloise venue in Paris, at the Calvi on the Rocks festival, in a showcase for the French music managers’ forum MMFF at the Réservoir and opening for the Nits, Heather Nova, Sharko and Cocoon, among others! The pace picked up in 2009 with his beautifully moving show at La Cigale for the Festival des Inrockuptibles.
